Role

This is an exciting opportunity to join a highly motivated team, helping to deliver an inclusive, enriching and vibrant experience for every Warwick student.

The role sits within the Student Community Experience team at the University of Warwick and will support in managing the @WarwickTogether Instagram platform; creating content for the Student Experience division and beyond.

The postholders will be current University of Warwick students, able to draw on their lived experience of life at Warwick to create content that is relevant, engaging and authentic for our student community. We’re looking to hire two student reps, hopefully with a balance of home and international to reflect our diverse student community.

The successful candidates will be creative and resourceful individuals who play a key role in the planning, creation and delivery of content across Instagram and other digital communication channels. They will bring a passion for social media, with the ability to capture and create engaging content, including short-form video and basic editing.

They will be full of ideas for how to better engage with students and help grow the visibility and impact of the @WarwickTogether platform and our division’s initiatives and events.

Your application

In your application, please include your CV and cover letter. Your cover letter should be no longer than two pages and should directly relate to the required skills and experience. In addition to your CV and cover letter, please include the following:

Create a short Instagram reel that introduces Together at Warwick to new Warwick students.

Your reel should:

•    Be no longer than 60 seconds

•    Be suitable for sharing on Instagram

•    Communicate what Together at Warwick is and the feeling or experience it offers students

You may:

•    Use footage from Together at Warwick events and around campus

•    Include interviews or vox pops with friends or students

•    Feature yourself, if you wish

•    Edit using any software you’re comfortable with

We’re looking for:

•    Clear, engaging storytelling

•    Creativity and a strong sense of audience

•    An understanding of Instagram as a platform (pace, visuals, captions, sound, etc.)

•    A short paragraph (3–5 sentences) explaining your creative choices and how you tailored the reel for Instagram

Duties and responsibilities

•    Create inclusive and engaging content for Warwick students across social media and online communications, with an awareness of the diversity of our community.

•    Attend Together at Warwick events to capture content and publish Instagram stories, carousels and reels that promote activities and student engagement.

•    Use video editing tools to create engaging, authentic short-form video content, particularly Instagram reels.

•    Work collaboratively with the team to plan and support the delivery of an annual schedule of digital content, to include activity & initiatives from the wider Student Experience division.

•    Collate monthly engagement and performance statistics to support the evaluation of digital campaigns.

•    Work collaboratively with University stakeholders, including students, academic departments, Marketing, Communications & Insight, the Students’ Union, and other professional service teams as appropriate.

Skills and experience

We are looking for current students with the following qualities:

•    Passionate about social media and digital content creation, particularly Instagram.

•    Sociable and keen to engage with other students from all backgrounds and nationalities

•    Confidence capturing content on a smartphone, including photos and short-form video

•    Basic video editing skills, and an awareness of current social trends.

•    A creative mindset, with the ability to generate fresh ideas to engage a diverse student audience.

•    Strong communication skills and the ability to adapt tone and style for different audiences.

•    Organised and reliable, with the ability to manage time effectively and meet deadlines.

•    A strong network across campus, with the confidence to engage with societies, student groups and peers to source and create content.  

•    An awareness of inclusivity and accessibility in digital communications.
