City St George’s Students’ Union is committed to enhancing the student experience through a wide range of opportunities that support wellbeing, community, and personal development. Through our GetActive programme, we provide accessible and inclusive sport and physical activity sessions that encourage students of all abilities to get involved, stay active, meet new people, and have fun.

GetActive offers a varied programme of recreational sport and activity across our campuses, creating opportunities for students who may be new to sport, returning after a break, or simply looking for a social and welcoming environment to be active. The programme plays a key role in supporting student wellbeing, fostering a sense of belonging, and building an active campus community.

We are looking for enthusiastic and reliable Activators to help deliver engaging sessions, create a positive participant experience, and support the continued growth of our GetActive programme.

Duties and responsibilities

Programme Engagement:

  • Act as the face of the programme, recruiting participants and promoting high levels of participation, satisfaction, and retention.
  • Assist the Sports Administrator (Social Sport) and fellow Activators in managing the GetActive programme and one-off promotional events.

Session Management:

  • Welcome, interact, and motivate students to participate in activities.
  • Ensure participants feel comfortable and have a positive experience, encouraging repeat attendance.
  • Scan tickets at each session to verify valid tickets/attendance.
  • Monitor the condition of session equipment and report to the Sports Administrator (Social Sport) when items need replacing or restocking.
  • Adhere to and enforce health and safety protocols, particularly regarding session capacities.
  • Report accidents, injuries, behavioural issues, and equipment problems to the Sports Administrator (Social Sport).
  • Gather feedback from participants and relay it to the Sports Administrator (Social Sport).

Post-Session Duties:

  • Monitor and report on session attendance, providing regular updates and feedback to the Sports Administrator (Social Sport) to enhance the student experience.
  • Communicate any concerns or suggestions related to the GetActive sessions to the Sports Administrator (Social Sport).

Skills and experience

  • Students enrolled at City St George’s University for the 2026/27 academic year.
  • Friendly, enthusiastic, motivated, and welcoming individuals.
  • Students passionate about promoting the benefits of being active.
  • Reliable, committed, and organised individuals.
  • Good communicators with the ability to handle conflict and dilemmas.
  • Ability to manage work time effectively without close supervision
  • Students with knowledge of or willingness to learn about all SU Sport programmes.
