Role
Are you a student looking to kickstart your career in tech? Romax is offering an exciting, hands-on internship designed specifically for Computer Science and Software Development students.
Duties and responsibilities
During your time with us, you will be an integral part of our digital and data teams. Your key responsibilities will include:
- Project Ownership: Contributing to one or two mini software development projects, taking them from initial concept through to a working prototype.
- Process Improvement: Assisting in the enhancement of our internal workflow automation and data management tools.
- Full Lifecycle Development: Participating in scoping, coding, testing, and documenting small-scale applications.
- Cross-functional Collaboration: Working with our teams to explore customer journey optimisation and supporting the integration of digital solutions with our existing print and communication services.
- Showcasing Your Work: Presenting your progress and outcomes at team meetings and to key stakeholders.
- Technical Proficiency: Gain real-world experience in full-stack or back-end development, developing proficiency in commercial tools, languages, and methodologies such as Python, JavaScript, SQL, Git, and APIs.
- Professional Skills: Strengthen your problem-solving abilities, team collaboration, and understanding of Agile workflows.
- Portfolio Building: Complete a demonstrable portfolio piece or case study that you can use for future employment opportunities or academic submissions.
Skills and experience
We are looking for passionate, curious, and motivated individuals. You should apply if you meet the following criteria:
- You are currently studying a Computer Science, Software Engineering, or similar technical degree.
- You have a strong interest in software development, backed by some experience in coding projects (whether academic, personal, or open-source).
- You possess excellent communication skills and a proactive, self motivated attitude.
- You are willing and able to work onsite in Orpington for the majority of the internship period.
