Role

Are you currently studying a social science-related course at the University of Salford, or are you a recent graduate? We are seeking a student or alumni to support an exciting community cohesion project at the University of Salford. This is an excellent opportunity to gain valuable research experience while contributing to a project that explores how universities and colleges can create safer, more inclusive, and connected campus communities. About the role:

  • Support a community cohesion project at the University of Salford as a Research Associate.
  • Contribute to research exploring how universities and colleges create safer, more inclusive, and connected campus communities.
  • Work collaboratively with students, staff, sector partners, and community stakeholders to develop practical resources that promote belonging, trust, respectful dialogue, and positive relationships across diverse student populations.
  • Operate within a hybrid working environment, combining remote working with attendance at campus meetings and events.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Support the design and delivery of qualitative social science research activities
  • Conduct stakeholder engagement with students, staff, education sector partners, and community organisations
  • Facilitate and support focus groups, interviews, and other research engagement activities.
  • Collect, analyse, and synthesise research evidence and findings
  • Contribute to the development of a practical framework and toolkit that supports community cohesion and inclusion within higher and further education settings
  • Assist with project reporting, dissemination of findings, and collaboration across project partners

Skills and experience

  • Demonstrate experience conducting research within the social sciences field
  • Apply strong qualitative research skills, including data collection and analysis
  • Engage effectively with a wide range of stakeholders and build positive working relationships
  • Facilitate discussions, focus groups, and stakeholder engagement activities
  • Communicate clearly and professionally through strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Work independently and contribute effectively from the outset in a fast-paced research environment

Location
University of Salford- Hybrid- mainly remote with presence on campus for events/meetings
