Unitemps are recruiting for a Summer School Administrative Assistant. This role is for a 22nd June 2026 start date and has a projected end date of 19th September 2026. This is a full-time role at 35 hours per week, based on campus. Payment is set at £16.76 per hour + £3.14 holiday pay.

 

The Slade School of Fine Art is looking for a highly organised and enthusiastic Summer School Admin Assistant to support the delivery of its Summer School, Short Courses and Widening Participation programmes. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a creative university environment, helping to deliver high-quality arts education experiences for students from a wide range of backgrounds.

As part of the Summer School team, you will play a key role in ensuring the smooth day-to-day running of programmes, supporting students, tutors and coordinators, and helping create a welcoming and inclusive environment for all participants.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Respond to enquiries from prospective and current students via email and telephone.
  • Support admissions and enrolment processes for Summer School and Widening Participation programmes.
  • Welcome students and visitors and act as a front-of-house representative during programme activities.
  • Register students within UCL systems and coordinate ID card appointments and access arrangements.
  • Provide administrative support to programme coordinators, including ordering materials and supporting staff scheduling.
  • Assist with tutor payment processes and the booking of life models.
  • Update website and social media content to promote courses and events.
  • Support the setup of lectures, workshops, film clubs and guest speaker sessions.
  • Coordinate attendance records, certificates and student feedback processes.
  • Help document Summer School activities through photography, video and shared digital resources.
  • Work closely with tutors and studio assistants to ensure programmes run smoothly.
  • Contribute to the wellbeing, safety and positive experience of all participants.

Skills and experience

Essential

  • Experience of responding professionally to queries via email and in person.
  • Experience of administrative tasks such as data entry, managing correspondence, maintaining shared drives or filing systems, and providing operational support in a busy environment.
  • Digital skills including setting up AV equipment and printing.
  • Ability to welcome participants in an inclusive way.
  • Ability to work well as part of a team and to take direction from teaching and office staff, as well as taking initiative to work independently.
  • Good interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively with students of differing age, backgrounds and experience. 
  • Strong organisational skills, including the ability to manage time and prioritise tasks.
  • A commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion.
  • A reliable, vigilant and responsible attitude.
  • An enthusiasm for working in an Art Education environment and contributing to successful Short Course and Outreach activity.

Desirable

  • Experience of studying in a studio environment and observing health and safety guidelines and best practice.
