Role

We wish to recruit several confident and outgoing registered UoS Student as Ambassadors who have a good knowledge of the University and who understand and are enthusiastic about life at Salford. You will be employed on a casual basis assisting with a range of events and activities during welcome week in September 2026.

It can be a busy role but rewarding, as you are welcoming students to Salford for the first time but also a lot of fun with everything that is going on during the Welcome period. Also make friends with other student ambassadors. You will receive full training, and shifts are available starting September.There may also be the opportunity to take part in out of hours activities including evenings and weekends. Shifts will be in person on our various campuses.   

The number of hours of work available will be variable depending on the tasks assigned and your own availability. 

Duties and responsibilities

  • Helping to resolve any problems students may encounter on arrival, answering informal questions and directing students who have more complex queries to the appropriate members of staff
  • Supporting Student Experience and Support and other staff set up and supervise events and activities
  • Encouraging conversation and social interaction between students and share experiences
  • Directing students to School Registration and Induction activities
  • Leading groups of students on campus tours and/or social excursions
  • Stewarding and general support for activities throughout the academic year
  • Fulfilling any other duties appropriate to the level of the post, as required by your manager

Skills and experience
You must have a good knowledge of the University campuses, understand and are enthusiastic about life at Salford. The ability to engage in a friendly and professional manner is highly essential to be successful in this role.

Additional information
Working Pattern: week/commencing Tue 1 Sept to Sun 6 Sept, the hours of work would be 10:00-15:00 (with a break) week/commencing Mon 7 Sept to Fri 11 Sept, the hours of work would be 09:00-16:00 (with a break)

Shortlisted applicants will be invited to an in-person Assessment Centre in July at the peel park campus where the hiring team would assess the most suitable candidates for the role.
They will be paid for their time. The successful candidates will be selected based on the outcome of the assessment.
