Role
This entry-level placement role sits within the Brand and Insight Team and provides an opportunity to gain practical experience in marketing, market research, and data analysis
Working under supervision, the postholder will support the delivery of insight-driven projects that inform student recruitment, communications, and brand development. The role will involve collaboration with colleagues across the wider Marketing and Recruitment team
Full training, support and mentoring will be provided, making this an ideal development opportunity for a student with an interest in insight, research, and marketing
Duties and responsibilities
- Undertake desk research to gather, review, and summarise market and audience information
- Assist with data analysis activities, including basic manipulation and organisation of datasets using Excel
- Support the development, distribution, and analysis of surveys
- Assist with fieldwork, including interviewing students and stakeholders
- Attend University events (e.g. open days) to support research and insight gathering
- Undertake mystery shopping exercises to evaluate the prospective student journey
- Support the delivery of focus groups, including note-taking and capturing key themes
- Contribute to the preparation of reports, dashboards, and presentations
- Liaise with colleagues across Marketing and Recruitment to support insight-led projects
- Carry out general administrative duties related to research and insight activities
Skills and experience
Currently enrolled on an undergraduate degree and have just completed L5 in academic year 25/26
- Demonstrable interest in marketing, research, or data/insight
- Good attention to detail and ability to work accurately
- Effective listening skills with the ability to capture and summarise information
- Ability to communicate clearly with a range of audiences
- Confidence in engaging with people in a professional setting
- Basic experience of using Microsoft Excel (or willingness to learn)
- Good organisational skills and ability to manage time across multiple tasks
- Willingness to learn, take direction, and work as part of a team
- Experience of working with data (academic or practical)
- Familiarity with research methods (e.g. surveys, interviews, focus groups)
- Previous customer-facing experience (e.g. retail, hospitality, student ambassador roles)
- Interest in higher education, student recruitment, or brand development
