Description

Role

Harper Adams is looking for a Kitchen Porter to join their busy department catering for University clientele & conference delegates.

Working alongside existing kitchen staff to carry out daily kitchen activities, including aiding with deliveries & good received to distributing to various outlets. Assisting to maintain their 5-star food hygiene rating & general cleaning duties within a busy kitchen.

Duties and responsibilities

Some of the key responsibilities include;

  • Deliver requisitioned goods to all catering outlets and any other university department
  • Monitor and remove recycling refuse
  • Replenish all cleaning materials and disposable protective clothing as required
  • Report any maintenance issues with the catering office to ensure that repairs are carried out as needed
  • Assist with deliveries around campus and driving University vehicles
  • Assist with the maintenance & cleaning of catering vehicles when required
  • Help with basic food preparation when requested
  • Ensure all paperwork is completed as and when required

Skills and experience

  • Full clean driving license
  • General experience of driving a light goods vehicle
  • Good level of written & verbal communication
  • Ability to exercise initiative
  • Knowledge of Health & Safety Regulations
  • Knowledge of road transport regulations

Benefits

  • £24,520 pro-rata (£12.71 an hour)
  • 21 days annual leave + 8 days bank holiday + University Closure Days (all holiday is pro-rata)
  • Enrolment in Harper Adams University Pension Scheme

Additional information
Days / Hours - 4 days per week, predominantly Monday - Thursday during term time 29.60 Hours. Out of term time 4 days out of 7.
