Role
Based at the University of Nottingham, the role holder will provide administrative support for the organisation of a conference to be held in Nottingham in late April 2027. The role holder will have excellent organisational and communication skills, an evidenced track record of working well towards a clear objective as part of a team, and experience of putting together events, arranging travel and managing a small travel budget. Importantly, the role holder will also have the flexibility to make a success of the working pattern outlined above and to be present in the Institute for Name-Studies during worked hours.

End Date: 07/05/2027Working Hours: To be arranged directly with the manager on an ad-hoc schedule. For example, it may be necessary for the role holder to work a half day each month from 6 July till 31 October 2026, increasing to 1 per month from 1 November 2026 to 28 February 2027, 1 day per week during March 2027, rising to two days per week in April 2027.
Pay Rate: £17.19 per hour
Holiday Pay Rate: £2.07 per hourDuties and responsibilities

- Creating and distributing publicity information (e.g. flyers and posters) - Contacting and communicating information to conference speakers - Booking travel for conference speakers - Liaising with conference staff - Managing bookings and attendee information - Contributing to the running of the conference |
Skills and experience
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
• Excellent organisational skills
• Good knowledge of the English Place-Name Society and its work
• Experience of organising major events
• Experience of managing travel and accommodation bookings
• An ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Flexibility to work variable hours across a 10-month period
