Description

Role

****Ringfenced to current LJMU students or applicant for 2026/27 with confirmed offer ONLY****

Student Living Assistants (SLAs) are LJMU students employed as members of staff. They assist LJMU students in partner hall accommodation. They also assist the Student Advice and Wellbeing (SAW) department at student and applicant events.

SLAs are a form of peer support. They play a key role in delivering the Student Living initiative with a specific remit. They are a point of contact for new and current students who have concerns about their accommodation or any other aspects of their lives.

What do SLAs do?

  • SLAs enable students to link in with support, activities and social networks that will enhance their experience and wellbeing
  • SLAs are an additional point of contact for any issues, queries or problems that arise in accommodation. They act as signposts for the various University, JMSU and external services. These services can help students address the difficulties they may face
  • SLAs support students in accessing and engaging in events and activities
  • SLAs help put a friendly student face on the programme of events and support available to students
  • SLAs support Student Advice and Wellbeing with events and activities to help students and applicants

To do this effectively, SLAs need to be aware of the policies and procedures of the University. Contact with students will be both in person and using appropriate virtual mediums.
