Role

Warwick’s Active Leagues are a large campus league programme with regular weekly leagues and one day events in a range of different sports.Active League Leaders are expected to support the Sports Engagement Officer in the development and establishing growth of the Active league to support a pathway for students to take part in socially competitive sport on campus, including the planning and co-ordination of a comprehensive Active league.

• There are 4 vacancies available. You MUST be able to commit to 6 hours per week and league hours must be completed in person, the rest can be done remotely (within the UK).
• League hours must be completed on a Wednesday, Friday, Saturday or Sunday.
• This is a term time role, to start 28/09/26 and finish on 21/3/27.

Duties and responsibilities

Facilitation (3 hours per week – on campus at the league)

• Organise and co-ordinate the weekly league time slots for teams.
• Re-arrange and re-schedule games where necessary to ensure the league is completed on time
• Work collaboratively with team captains to ensure that team details are filled on Playwaze, fixtures are met and codes of conduct are adhered to by participants.
• Act as the first point of contact for any team complaints/disputes and queries. Raise with the SEO where necessary.
• Report all accidents, injuries, and any facility/equipment issues to the Duty Manager on shift.

Administration (2 hours per week – hybrid)

• Lead on recruitment for teams into the league.
• Use Playwaze to ensure that all team details, fixtures, scores and other details are kept up to date.
• Work collaboratively with the content creator to develop content for promotions
• Promote the Active league programme at Warwick via Active League Instagram
• Support one day events where necessary.
• Collate and provide feedback to the SEO on behalf of attendees.
• Be the face of the programme, recruiting participants and ensuring a high level of participation, satisfaction, and retention.

Meetings/SEO catch up (1hour per week)

• Meet once per week with the relevant SEO

Skills and experience

Essential

• Passion for engaging more people in sport and active wellness
• Ability to multi-task and work under pressure to meet deadlines
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work well in a team
• Ability to meet deadlines and work on own initiative
• Experience of using Microsoft Office and Microsoft Outlook
• A commitment to observe the University’s Equal Opportunities policy
• A DBS will be required for this role - if you do not hold a valid DBS Unitemps will facilitate one

Desirable

• Experience of participation in or knowledge of Team Warwick Active Leagues
• Experience of using Playwaze
• Possession of a first aid qualification (one will be provided if not)
