Role
Fusion is home to the University of Warwick’s Esports Centre, a dynamic creative technology space delivering a wide range of activity across esports, gaming, live streaming, broadcasting, VR, digital design, community programmes, and immersive experiences.
We’re looking for a passionate and reliable team of students to support the busy day-to-day operation of the centre. This is an exciting opportunity to work within one of the UK’s leading university esports environments, supporting players, visitors, events, and creative technology activity across the space.
As part of the role, you will help manage and maintain our 24 state-of-the-art gaming PCs and equipment, assist users and groups using the facility, and support the delivery of a wide range of activities including esports tournaments, gaming events, birthday parties, corporate team-building sessions, tech showcases, live broadcasts, community events, and creative technology workshops. You will play a key role in creating an engaging, welcoming, and professional experience for all visitors and participants.
We’re looking for students who are enthusiastic about esports, gaming, and emerging creative technologies, with strong communication skills, confidence working with people, and a proactive attitude. In your covering letter, please tell us about your passion for esports, games, or creative technology, and provide examples of any experience you have supporting esports, gaming, sporting, entertainment, or live events. If successful for the role, you will need to complete a DBS check.
Please also include the minimum and maximum number of hours you are available to work each week:
- Shift Length: 4–6 hours (morning or evening half-day shifts)
- Shift Frequency: 2–5 shifts per week (depending on academic workload)
- Positions Available: Up to 7 student team members
Duties and responsibilities
Customer Service
- Acting as a first point of contact for visitors, players, students, community groups, and corporate guests using the space, helping create a welcoming and professional experience.
- Supporting the day-to-day operation of Fusion Esports, including bookings, payments, monitoring use of the gaming spaces, and ensuring equipment and facilities are maintained to a high standard.
- Assisting users across gaming PCs, consoles, VR, and streaming equipment, including troubleshooting basic technical issues with support from the Fusion team.
- Supporting Fusion’s wider activity through social media content creation, event setup, hardware organisation, and promoting the centre’s services and activities to visitors, partners, and sponsors.
Events, Esports & Project Support
- Supporting the delivery of a wide range of activities including esports tournaments, gaming events, birthday parties, corporate team-building sessions, livestreams, workshops, short courses and creative technology events.
- Assisting with event operations such as setup, customer support, tournament administration, streaming support, and ensuring a smooth experience for participants and guests.
- Supporting schools, colleges, and community groups visiting the Centre through esports, gaming, and creative technology workshops and activities.
Skills and experience
Requirements:
- Customer service experience
- Strong time management and punctuality skills
- General knowledge of computer hardware and peripherals
- Positive attitude and good people skills
- Comfortable explaining games and technology to new users
- Self-motivated
- Content creation and social media management
- Ability to work flexibly, in different locations when needed
- Willing and able to be DBS checked (by the university)
Preferred:
- Knowledge of stream & broadcast production
- Interest/ experience in esports tournaments as an organiser or player
- Interest/ experience in working with marketing, social media platforms and content
- Interest/ experience in graphic design
- Interest/ experience in video production
- Interest/ experience in accounting or data analysis
- Experience in teaching or working with young people
- Interest/ experience in esports/sports coaching in any capacity
- Experience building and/or programming computers
- Experience and/or interest in computer coding
- Ambition to pursue a career in gaming, esports or the Createch industry

Central Campus Fusion Esports Centre (some external locations as required)

Start Date: 21st September (please be aware that you will need to complete a face to face DBS appointment at least 8 weeks before the start date for the role)
