Role

The role involves designing and delivering a 1 hour session for approx. 15 Year 12 students attending the Philosophy, Theology and Ethics strand of the Sutton Trust Summer School (held on University Park campus,13-16 July). The Summer School is part of the university's widening participation work and is intended to engage students in the kinds of Philosophy and Theology that would be available to them if they were to study in the Department of Philosophy in the future as well as the nature, value and scope of these disciplines more generally. In line with current university norms, successful candidates would be paid for 4 hours preparation time in addition to 1 hour for the session itself. Duties and responsibilities
- Design and deliver an interactive 1 hour session to engage a Year 12 audience.
- Liaise with the Summer School strand leaders (Jon Robson and Peter Watts) to ensure the suitability of the session.
Skills and experience
- Required: Working towards a postgraduate research qualification in Philosophy or Theology at the University of Nottingham.
- Ability to communicate Philosophy or Theology clearly and enthusiastically to a Year 12 student audience.
- Desirable: Experience in teaching or student ambassador/widening participation/outreach work.
