Role

Unitemps are recruiting for a Unit Administrator. This role is for a June 15th start date and has a projected end date of August 14th 2026. This is a part-time role at 22 hours per week. Payment is set at £19.14 per hour + £3.58 holiday pay. This role will be hybrid working with 1 day from campus and the other days from home.
 
The post-holder will assist the Unit Manager, Co-Directors, and programme leads in all aspects of the operational delivery of the NIHR RH-PRU. They will work on their own initiative and as part of a team to manage the research programme by providing proactive and professional administrative support and taking a lead role in the administration of patient and public involvement (PPI)/co-production activities. This is likely to be for a period of 2-3 months. Hybrid preferred but can consider a fully remote candidate.

Skills and experience

Qualifications, experience and knowledge

  • Degree and administrative/Personal Assistant or other relevant experience
  • A demonstrable ability to undertake initiatives, prioritise and plan appropriately
  • Developing and sustaining effective working relationships with colleagues at all levels, working collaboratively and understanding of the importance of working in an inclusive way with people from diverse communities   
  • Experience working with Patient and Public Involvement (PPI) groups or voluntary organisations     
  • Experience of working either in the university sector, in research and science policy, or in public policy/a policy-focused organisation  

Skills and abilities

  • Excellent numeracy, written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate clearly and effectively, and good IT skills with working knowledge of standard Microsoft Office software
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, managing workloads and using initiative
  • Manage diaries and schedules across multiple teams and organisations, ensuring efficient time management and team support.
