Role

The Data Support Assistant will deliver day-to-day data management, administrative support, and stakeholder coordination activities within the Warwick Business School Data Team.

The role focuses on maintaining data quality, supporting data improvement initiatives, and ensuring the effective coordination and delivery of operational data processes and services across the team.

Duties and responsibilities

The Data Support Assistant will work within a high-performing data operations team to provide operational, administrative, and data-related support. The post holder will assist with data quality assurance, stakeholder liaison, documentation, and coordination of activities supporting ongoing projects and business-as-usual processes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support routine data management activities including data validation, cleansing, quality checks, and basic analysis
  • Update records in line with Data Team standard operating procedures Liaise with stakeholders to gather information, clarify requirements, and follow up on outstanding actions
  • Support administrative activities for ongoing data and reporting projects 
  • Contribute to the creation and maintenance of documentation, including training guides and Standard Operating Procedures
  • Communicate clearly and professionally with academic and professional services staff
  • Contribute to continuous improvement and data governance initiatives
  • Manage and resolve support tickets from shared inboxes (e.g. Programme Teams, Module Records, Research Office), ensuring timely responses Identify and address data quality issues, supporting wider data quality improvement initiatives
  • Provide support for user acceptance testing (UAT) for system and process improvements
  • Triage issues and requests to appropriate teams based on priority and impact
  • Undertake any other duties appropriate to the role

Skills and experience

  1. Strong organisational and administrative skills, with the ability to prioritise workload effectively
  2. Excellent IT skills, including Microsoft 365 applications, and the ability to quickly learn and use new systems (including bespoke university software)
  3. Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including formula and functions
  4. High attention to detail and ability to follow structured processes accurately
  5. Strong communication skills with confidence interacting with a range of stakeholders
  6. Basic understanding of data handling, information security, and data quality principles (Eg., GDPR, data processing principles)
  7. Ability to manage multiple tasks in a busy environment, prioritizing workload with guidance from line manager
  8. Strong team working skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams

Desirable:

  1. Experience or understanding of the higher education sector 
  2. Experience working in a customer service-oriented technical or data-focused team 
  3. Microsoft Access skills
  4. Exposure to Power BI, SQL, or similar data tools
