The role involves working in close collaboration with researchers based on a SHAPE Fellowship project. The project explores the impact of AI on mental health. There will be three plays performed in two workshops on this topic at the end of May 2026. 

During the workshops, data will be collected from the audience regarding policy and regulation of AI in this area. After that, the RA will assist in analysing the data and help draft a journal article as well as a policy brief.

Duties and responsibilities

The successful applicant will be expected to assist with the design and delivery of the project and contribute towards researching the above topic and organising dissemination events at stakeholder organisations. Examples of activities the research assistant may be required to do include (please note that this is not an exhaustive list):

 

  • Find relevant journal articles and reports on legislative theatre, the impact of AI on mental health and AI regulation
  • Assist in drafting journal articles and the policy brief
  • Liaise with stakeholder organisations to arrange events for dissemination of project

Contribute towards the LJMU Research Café and presentations to disseminate the results

  • Present research findings and liaise with colleagues and stakeholders.
  • Produce reports, briefs, and contribute to publications.

  • Contribute effectively to the team and support colleagues.

  • Conduct, analyse, and report research activities.
  • Contribute to conference presentations and peer-reviewed outputs.

Skills and experience

Knowledge & Experience

  • Apply and share specialist knowledge while continuing professional development.
  • Ideally possess a higher-level qualification and relevant research experience.

Essential

  • A good honours degree (at least Upper Second) or equivalent in Law or a related subject area.
  • Ability to work independently and with minimal supervision.
  • Evidence of required analytical research skills.
  • Ability to make clear and effective presentations.
  • Ability to work as a team.
  • Ability to work under pressure.

 

Minimum Requirements

  • Upper second degree classification.

 

Desirable Factors

  • A postgraduate degree in Law or related subject
  • Experience of undertaking research project work in Law, especially in AI regulation
  • Experience of transcribing interview transcripts
