Description
Role
To provide an effective and efficient Sessional Teaching Payroll service as part of the People Team.
To support the day-to-day administration of Sessional Tutors and Graduate Teaching Assistants across the full employee lifecycle, including compliance checks, onboarding, contract issuing, contractual changes and leavers.
To provide excellent customer service to both internal and external stakeholders, acting as the first point of contact for any Sessional Teaching Payroll queries and transactional issues in a fast-paced environment.
Due to the nature of this role, successful candidates will be required to work on campus full time throughout the duration of the assignment.
Duties and responsibilities
- Complete compliance, Right to Work and visa-related checks in line with legislation and university requirements.
- Support the onboarding process for new starters, including providing guidance on IT access, staff cards and timesheet submission.
- Create and maintain employee records by inputting and processing information on HR systems and Excel databases, maintaining a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Produce timely and accurate contracts for Sessional Tutors and Graduate Teaching Assistants, ensuring compliance with relevant teaching frameworks, policies and legislation.
- Act as a first point of contact for email, telephone and face-to-face queries from both internal and external stakeholders, providing excellent customer service.
- Support academic departments with queries relating to contracts, amendments and payroll administration, escalating to the Senior People Services Administrator and People Services Coordinator when necessary.
- Process and check data within HR systems and Excel spreadsheets, ensuring information is accurate, up to date and completed within required timescales.
- To undertake any other duties and responsibilities commensurate with the grade.
Skills and experience
- Educated to GCSE level or equivalent experience.
- Experience of working in a busy administrative environment with the ability to manage a high volume of work and competing priorities to meet strict deadlines.
- Experience of working accurately and with a high level of attention to detail, particularly when processing sensitive or confidential information.
- Good oral communication skills with the ability to deal with a range of stakeholders in a professional manner.
- Good written communication skills, including drafting clear and professional correspondence.
- Excellent customer service skills with a commitment to delivering a high-quality service.
- Excellent IT skills with experience using databases/CRMs and Microsoft Office software, especially Outlook, Word and Excel.
- Ability to work independently and use initiative whilst also working collaboratively as part of a team.
- Must be available to work throughout the entire period between September and December.
