Role

At UoN Sport, we are committed to ensuring all students can engage in sport and physical activity throughout their studies. The Rugby Minds programme aims to work across all of our rugby programmes, to support the development and promotion of a more positive culture within the sport at Nottingham. We are recruiting two Rugby Minds ambassadors to work alongside the Rugby Coordinator to: 

• Develop the Rugby Minds campaign across the UoN Sport rugby programmes, with a particular focus on welfare support and positive culture change 

• Develop and coordinate a representative Rugby Minds committee to support delivery of key campaign objectives

• Coordinate a programme of training and developmental opportunities • Promote opportunities and encourage engagement across the rugby programmes

• Work with the committee to implement and further develop volunteering opportunities

• Monitoring, reporting and evaluation of work programmes

Start Date: 31/08/2026

End Date: 30/07/2027

Working Hours: 3-4 hours per week to be arranged by hiring manager

Pay Rate: £12.71 per hour

Holiday Pay Rate: £1.53 per hour

Location: David Ross Sports Village

Dress Code: Smart Casual

Duties and responsibilities

  • Represent the student voice across the rugby programmes 
  • Lead on the development of a clear brand identity for Rugby Minds 
  • Work with rugby programmes to create and lead a team of welfare representatives
  • To develop a programme of training for rugby players and volunteers to access
  • Regular meetings with Head of Rugby, Rugby Co-ordinator and other key UoN Sport staff members
  • Work with other student ambassadors as a team. Shape and support the development of the Rugby Minds campaign
  • Engage volunteers from across the rugby programmes to support in delivery
  • Write regular content and celebrate successes via all available marketing outlets
  • Support the planning and delivery of key events and activities
  • Work alongside the Rugby programme social media officers and UoN Sports Marketing Team to promote all activities online
  • Follow all UoN Sport marketing guidelines and protocols
  • Produce high-quality reports and recommendations to key stakeholders as required
  • Attend regular training sessions as required
  • To access additional funding and support
  • Any other duties as required by UoN Sport teams

Skills and experience

  • Current undergraduate or postgraduate student at the University of Nottingham (Essential)
  • Minimum of one year remaining on course (Essential) 
  • Understanding of the University rugby programmes (Essential)
  • Understanding of welfare support services within and outside of the University (Essential)
  • Knowledge of the different UoN Sport and RFU programmes (Desirable) 
  • Experience of a leadership role within your peer group (Essential)
  • Previous voluntary or paid experience within media, sport or leisure (Desirable)
  • Strong inclusive communication skills, with the ability to adapt to different audiences (Essential)
  • Experience managing or contributing to social media platforms (Essential) 
  • Confident IT user, including Microsoft Office and design tools (Essential)
  • Passionate about rugby for all and welfare (Essential)
  • Creative and innovative mindset (Essential)
  • Strong collaborator with the ability to work independently (Essential)
  • Well organised with effective time management skills (Essential)
  • Committed to personal development (Essential)
