This is a customer facing role within a vibrant university sports environment, supporting members of the university community to engage safely and effectively with gym based physical activity.

Working as part of a small and supportive team, the postholder will contribute to the day to day delivery of Sport & Active Life services. The role involves cross site working where required, with a designated base site allocated on appointment.

This includes conducting individual and group inductions, designing personalised fitness programmes in consultation with customers, answering enquiries and completing general gym administrative tasks.

The role also involves maintaining high standards of health and safety through effective supervision, implementing the operational health and safety regime and managing capacity and compliance within the facilities.

The postholder will monitor, clean and, where appropriate, maintain fitness equipment and activity areas to the required standard, ensuring a welcoming and safe environment for all users.

Skills and experience

To be successful in this role, you must hold a recognised certified fitness qualification equivalent to REPS Level 2, as applicants without a current Level 2 gym or fitness qualification cannot be considered.

You will have experience of working within a customer service environment and be confident in providing fitness advice and guidance to a diverse range of customers.

You will be IT literate across Microsoft Office programmes and willing to undertake an enhanced DBS check. The role requires flexibility, as hours are worked over seven days a week, including early, late, weekend and bank holiday shifts, in line with Sports Centre operational requirements
