Role

The role will work as part of the University’s Information Security, Risk and Compliance team, contributing to the protection of our information and systems and helping the University meet its regulatory and legal obligations in an increasingly complex digital environment. Specifically supporting our risk management, compliance and training & awareness functions.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Responding to and triaging requests from across the organisation for support on information risk and compliance matters.
  • Providing advice on matters related to information security, risk and compliance.
  • Supporting the delivery of training and awareness activities such as core information security training for staff, awareness events and phishing drills.
  • Supporting the Legal and Compliance team in fulfilling Freedom of Information and Subject Access requests.
  • Conducting and supporting data breach investigations.
  • Supporting the Information Compliance manager in maintaining our Information Management Policy Framework.
  • Supporting the delivery of information security risk management.
  • Conducting and supporting the investigation of personal data breaches
  • Providing general support to the wider team in response to incidents.

Skills and experience

  • Bachelor’s level education in a relevant field or equivalent work experience.
  • Prior experience working in a GRC (Governance, risk and compliance), Information Security or adjacent IT function.
  • Knowledge of relevant legal frameworks such as UK GDPR
  • Knowledge of Information Security frameworks such as ISO27001
  • Familiarity with using an IT ticketing system.
  • Strong written and verbal communications with the ability to simplify and convey complex topics to a diverse audience
  • Self-motivation - the ability to work calmly under pressure and to plan and prioritise workload without supervision

Location
Hybrid - fully remote considered.
