Role

Unitemps are acting as an Employment Business, supplying temporary workers, in relation to this vacancy.

This role will be to support in the designing, delivery, analysis, reporting and dissemination of research on University of Nottingham students’ experiences, undertake desk research to explore issues surrounding the student experience, support the work of full time Officers, and take part in outreach encouraging students to take part in our research.

Start Date: August/September
End Date: Ongoing while UON student
Working Hours: Discuss with hiring Manager 
Pay Rate: £12.71 Plus 12.07% holiday pay
Location: Nottingham, University Park

Duties and responsibilities

  • Support in the designing and delivery of research projects such as focus groups,surveys, and interviews to gather feedback on student experiences, ensuring questions and discussions are inclusive, productive, and reflective of the diversity of the student body.  
  • Analyse qualitative and quantitative data on student experiences and issues, using software such as SPSS, Excel, and NVivo. 
  • Report on and present data about student experiences in a way that is digestible to stakeholders.  
  • Support desk-based research to explore, synthesis and disseminate relevant literature pertaining to student issues, incorporating this into primary research where     relevant.  
  • Support the department in engaging students in our research projects, such as by helping to increase the number of students signed up to our Research Panel mailing list. 
  • Maintain a friendly, non-judgmental, and approachable attitude. 
  • Attend staff meetings as required. 

Skills and experience

  • Currently undertaking a course with social research elements, or has previously undertaken a degree, with social research elements, or has comparable social research experience in a professional field.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills. 
  • Experience of data analysis and of working with statistical tools and spreadsheets 
  • Confidence in facilitating group discussions and managing diverse opinions.  
  • Knowledge of social research methods and ethics 
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a range of stakeholders including students, Students Union staff, and University staff members. 
  • Communication skills, including development of reports and presentations.
