Reporting to Farm Owners John and Patricia Stanley 

Pay £28000 Dependent on the individual 

 

The Opportunity 

This is a rare chance to play a leading role in the future of a long established family farm at a key point in its journey. 

The farm continues to run a successful Longhorn enterprise including showing pedigree cattle at shows and selling pedigree stock and beef animals. There is also the opportunity for the successful candidate to be involved in the showing side of the business. Arable farming remains part of the business with field work carried out by contract farmers. 

Alongside this planning permission has been granted to diversify into high end rural experiences including events training pop up uses of buildings glamping and potential café or visitor focused activity. 

There is also an opportunity for a stockperson role on the beef side which could suit a couple looking to live and work on the farm together with on site cottage accommodation available. 

The owners want to stay involved but are looking for someone to take the lead day to day bring energy and help share what makes the farm special. For the right person this role can grow into something much bigger.

Vision for the Farm

The focus for the next phase includes: 

• Up market tents and glamping 

• Events training days and hosted experiences

• Pop up activity in barns and outdoor spaces 

• Potential café and visitor offering 

The farm sits within the National Forest area with strong potential for tourism and experiences and already has good foundations in place. 

Duties and responsibilities

 
The Farm Enterprise Manager will lead the development and running of the diversified business while keeping the wider farm in good order.

This role suits someone who enjoys being around people as much as being hands on. It is about creating experiences telling the farm story and building something that visitors will connect with. 

Key Responsibilities 

Enterprise Development and Operations

• Manage the day to day running of the farm and new enterprises

• Support delivery of new projects following planning approval

• Coordinate contractors suppliers and services

• Help shape the visitor offer as it develops 

Visitor Experience and Storytelling

• Be a welcoming face of the farm

• Share its story heritage and future with visitors

• Oversee events training and public activity

• Help create a high quality visitor experience 

Practical and Site Management

• Oversee maintenance of buildings yards and land • Keep the site safe well presented and visitor ready

• Operate and look after machinery when needed

• Maintain high standards across the whole farm 

Ownership and Responsibility

• Take responsibility for day to day decisions

• Work closely with the owners in an open way

• Bring ideas energy and a willingness to try new things 

Skills and experience
Who We Are Looking For 

This role is very much about the person. Attitude and mindset matter more than years of experience. We need someone who knows farms has spent time in that environment and has a real interest in beef along with ideas on how the business can grow.

A passion for Pedigree cattle and a passion for interaction with the public is required. 

Essential qualities

• Passion for farming rural life and land based businesses

• Comfortable dealing with people

• Reliable and self motivated

• Willing to take ownership

• Practical adaptable and hands on Ideal background

• Early career or someone looking for their next step

• Has helped run or build something before

• Interest in events tourism hospitality or rural business

• Keen to grow into a leadership role over time 

Strong management experience is not essential. The right person will be supported as they grow into the position.
