Description
Role
We are looking for an intern to work with the Port of Dover to improve wayfinding on public mapping apps for passengers travelling to and through the Port of Dover.
This work will help to make the journey easier to understand for first-time and infrequent travellers, reduce confusion at key decision point and help passengers set realistic expectations of how long it may take to progress through the port and form a foundation for the planned mobile app, particularly any future capability focused on individualising passenger journey information to and through the port.
This supports a better customer experience by improving “what to expect” visibility, and it creates a reusable, approved set of location definitions that can be kept current and used across passenger comms (web, signage content, FAQs) and future digital initiatives.
This internship can be done on a 4-week full-time basis or an 8-week part-time basis.
Duties and responsibilities
- Work with internal stakeholders and agree a sensible set of passenger-facing map markers for key stages of the transit journey (e.g. port entrance, buffer zone, French border, check)
- Draft and secure sign-off of the proposed marker set and definitions
- Investigate and, where feasible, create a Port of Dover controlled map overlays/views in Google and Apple maps and outline whether/how we can influence the map providers to adopt some markers in their default experiences.
Skills and experience
- Ideally studying a relevant course.
- Good analytical skills
- Must be a CCCU student or graduate.
Location
Dover, Kent
