Role
This appointment is for a Student Records Assistant with particular responsibility for supporting the Senior Student Records Officer / Student Records Manager in the preparation and delivery of the July 2026 Graduation ceremonies.

 
Ceremonies will be taking place on the 10th, 13th, 14th, 15th and 16th July at the Barbican. Further information about Graduation can be found on our webpages (https://studenthub.citystgeorges.ac.uk/news-and-events/events-and-celebrations/graduation).
 
This is an exciting opportunity to be involved in one of the University’s largest and most prestigious events, and will require working onsite (at the Barbican) on ceremony days, alongside the rest of the team. Under the direction of the Senior Student Records Officer, the post holder will also provide general clerical support within the Student Records team.

Duties and responsibilities

 
• Serving as an initial point of contact and managing enquiries (across a number of email inboxes) about Student Records services from staff, applicants, current students, and members of the public.
 
• Maintaining and updating of student records on the student records system (SITS), and where necessary accessing and filing manual records.
 
• Responding to requests to verify awards and/or the attendance of past students via email and HEDD (Higher Education Degree Datacheck).
 
• Producing/distributing City St George’s certificates.

Skills and experience

Skills: 

• Excellent communication skills suitable for a variety of different settings and audiences.

• Good technical skills, to enable the Student Records Assistant in using the student records system (SITS) and other websites/portals. (Full training will be given).

• Evidence of reliability and commitment.

• Excellent interpersonal skills.

• Enthusiastic and positive approach to university life and higher education.

• Good time management skills.

• Ability to work successfully as part of a team.

Experience:

• A good understanding of customer service and dealing with enquiries either face-to-face or via email.

• Experience of working with a team.

• Experience of working under pressure and to a deadline.

Location
Northampton Square

Additional information

Working pattern: 9:30 - 17:30 on Monday to Friday
 
Interviews: Thursday 14th or Friday 15th May (via Teams).
 
Mainly office-based, although some hybrid working (from home) may be possible once trained.
 
The week leading up to the Graduation ceremonies will require being in the office every day, and on ceremony days, you will be required to work at the Barbican (Silk Street, London, EC2Y 8DS).
