Description

Role

To support the administration of the Observatory for Mathematical Education in the School of Education at the University of Nottingham where you will be joining a small, supportive operational team which delivers a variety of projects and activities. The main task in this temporary role is downloading interview audio recordings, putting them through transcription software, correcting any obvious errors in the text, checking/correcting commonly used terms and abbreviations (such as DfE, Ofsted, Key Stage 2, etc.) against a list given, anonymising by replacing all names of teachers and schools with generic titles, checking and correcting the labelling of who is speaking, naming the file, and uploading to a dedicated SharePoint site. During the assignment there may also be the opportunity to support other administrative processes.

 

Start Date: 18/05/26

End Date: 07/08/2026

Working Hours: To be arranged directly by the Hiring Manager, up to full time and could be 15 hours per week in term time.

Pay Rate: £13.45 per hour

Holiday Pay Rate: £1.62 per hour

Location: Dearing Building, Jubilee Campus

Duties and responsibilities

  • Creating automated transcripts of audio recordings
  • Cleaning and anonymising each transcript to the standard required for analysis
  • Checking and updating information in tracker spreadsheets and lists
  • Responding to email enquiries
  • Sending emails and recording responses
  • Creating documents
  • Other admin tasks as required

Skills and experience

  • Excellent IT skills, including knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Good written and verbal communication skills including a high standard of written English
  • Friendly and accommodating interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work as part of a team
  • Ability to work flexibly
  • Attention to detail
  • Confidence to work with minimum day to day supervision
  • Good organisational skills
