Role

We are looking for enthusiastic, reliable, and engaging students to become Subject-Specific Student Ambassadors. In this role, you will represent your academic course and the wider university to prospective students, particularly those in schools and colleges. You will deliver talks, lead discussions, and share your personal experiences to help young people understand what it's like to study your subject at university level.

Duties and responsibilities

Key Responsibilities:

  • Create and deliver engaging and informative talks or workshops about your subject and
  • student life to school and college audiences.
  • Share your personal journey to university, including your decision-making process,
  • academic experiences, and student life.
  • Support subject-specific outreach events both on-campus and off-campus.
  • Act as a positive role model and ambassador for the university and your course.
  • Answer questions from prospective students in a friendly, open, and professional manner.
  • Assist with the development of subject-specific outreach materials and presentations,
  • where required.
  • Maintain regular communication with the Outreach and Recruitment team regarding
  • availability and feedback from sessions.

Secondary Responsibilities:

To undertake any other duties and responsibilities, in line with the level of the post, as directed by the Line Manager and/or Operational Managers. These variations will not change the general character of the post or the level of responsibility

  • Currently employed as a Student Ambassador at University of Gloucestershire.

  • Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Willingness to travel (independently) to schools and colleges in and around key recruitment target areas (Please note: all travel expenses will be reimbursed).

Additional information

Application Process:

Step One:

Submit an online application expressing your interest in the role.

Step Two:

If your application is shortlisted, you will be asked to create a 15-20 minute presentation about your experience studying at UoG. Unlike a standard Student Life talk, this presentation should provide specific information about your course (e.g. what drew you to the course? What does a typical day look like on your course? etc.)

Candidates will be invited to present their work to a member of the outreach team.

Please Note: Template documents and guidance about how to compile this presentation will be provided to you after shortlisting. We will also be hosting an optional online drop-in to support you with this task.

Step Three:

A member of the Outreach Team will be in touch to let you know if you have been successful in applying for the role.

Interview:

We will contact you after your application is sent in to arrange an online/face to face interview with you. This is usually during normal working week hours (Mon-Fri 9-5)
