Role
The role of an Alumni Communications and Content Plan intern will involve developing a communication plan for our finalists, and early year alumni around benefits of staying connected, and raising awareness of the Graduate Outcomes Survey. The role will involve researching and planning the delivery of communication across existing channels such as Gecko, LinkedIn and Facebook, whilst also exploring the feasibility of creating an alumni focused TikTok account.

 
This role is designed to support you in gaining and developing clear evidence-based competencies, such as curiosity, communication, and inclusion, which will support your future development throughout your time at Middlesex University and beyond.
 
The role requires an individual who is willing to investigate and use a critical lens to develop a plan that aims to increase alumni engagement throughout the academic year and following up to the Graduate Outcomes Survey. You should have a keen interest in exploring the usability and benefits of different platforms to keep alumni engaged. Further to this, you should have an interest and a basic understanding of the importance of producing communication that is inclusive of the diverse range of alumni that are a part of our Association.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Reviewing current communication plans that exist within the Alumni Team, across email (Gecko and Mail Merge), LinkedIn, and Facebook.
  • Develop a basic understanding of the Graduate Outcomes Survey, and the importance of this.
  • Review communication that is sent to finalists by analysing patterns, design, content and engagement levels.
  • Potentially liaise and collaborate with the student communication, social media and marketing Teams to understand their communication plans, and techniques.
  • Conduct research across other institutions and find patterns relating to communication they send out to alumni across the academic year. If possible, locate data relating to engagement from these comms.
  • Research around the feasibility and usefulness of opening a TikTok account dedicated to alumni.

Skills and experience
Essential

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Confident with using Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel.
  • Good research and presenting skills.
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills.
  • Digital and social media awareness and experience.
  • Good understanding of equality and diversity in relation to written communication.
  • Creative mindset and problem-solving skills.
Desirable
  • Experience of creating social media and newsletter content.
  • Experience in analysing data.
  • Basic understanding of the Graduate Outcomes Survey.
  • Experience of working with other Teams to produce tangible results.

Location
In-person only (Hendon campus or business office)
