Role
We are seeking a Policy Intern (Student Content) to help make key university policies clearer, more engaging, and more accessible for students. This role focuses on translating complex policy information into student-friendly content that supports understanding, compliance, and confidence.
The intern will work with policy owners, communications teams, and students to identify priority policies, redesign content, and test new formats. This internship offers valuable experience in content design, communication, digital storytelling, and student engagement, while contributing directly to a more transparent and inclusive student experience.
Duties and responsibilities

Identify key student-facing policies that impact the student experience (e.g. attendance, wellbeing, academic integrity).

Review existing policy wording and identify areas where language or structure creates confusion or disengagement.

Translate complex policy language into clear, accessible, and student-friendly content without losing accuracy.

Design and create engaging content formats, such as:

Short-form videos (e.g. TikTok- or Instagram-style explainers)

Infographics or visual summaries
-
Interactive or AI-generated content to support learning and understanding

Work collaboratively with staff to ensure content remains accurate, ethical, and aligned with university regulations.

Test content with students to check for clarity, relevance, and engagement.

Gather and analyse student feedback to refine content and delivery formats.

Produce guidance and recommendations on how student-facing policy content could be improved more widely.

Present findings and content outputs to stakeholders in a clear and accessible way.
Skills and experience
Essential

Strong interest in communication, digital content, or student engagement

Ability to explain complex information clearly and concisely

Good written and verbal communication skills

Creativity and willingness to experiment with different content formats

Strong attention to detail and accuracy

Good organisational and time-management skills
Desirable

Studying a relevant subject (e.g. Communications, Media, Law, Education, Marketing, Digital Design, or related disciplines)

Experience creating short-form digital content or visual materials

Familiarity with social media platforms and student communication styles

Awareness of accessibility, inclusive communication, or plain-English principles
