Role
This role is an exciting opportunity to shape the events programme at MDX for 2026/27. You’ll be able to lead on the planning and development of our cultural and faith-based events calendar, helping to ensure all cultures and faiths at MDX are celebrated. You’ll take the lead on consulting with students, reviewing feedback, designing events that are high-quality, good value for money and safe, all with the aim of improving the student experience. You’ll develop transferable skills in research, data analysis, event planning and budgeting, and commercial awareness.  

Duties and responsibilities

  • Conduct a review of the cultural and faith based events programme for 2025/26, including attendance data, student feedback and evaluation documents.  

  • Research how comparable student unions approach their cultural and events programme.  

  • Design and run a short student/staff survey or focus group with student leaders from faith and cultural societies to gather insight.  

  • Analyse findings and produce a clear written report and presentation with data-led recommendations for the 2026–27 cultural events programme 

  • Complete the development of a resources pool for the events programme including event concept documents, timelines, risk assessments and budgets.  

  • Attend all scheme activities including induction, regular check-ins with your supervisor, and mandatory Careers & Futures reflective learning sessions 

Skills and experience

Essential 

  • Currently enrolled as a Middlesex University student 

  • Interest in event management and improving the student experience  

  • Good written and verbal communication skills 

  • Strong organisational skills  

  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment 

  • Comfortable using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) or equivalent 

Desirable 

  • An interest in creating opportunities for the diverse MDX community
