Description
Role
To plan, organise and facilitate a range of informal sports activities on university campus to engage a range of students and provide regular participation and intermural sports sessions delivered for individuals of all levels.
Duties and responsibilities
- Plan and organise a range of participation sports opportunities for Teesside University students to engage with throughout the academic year on a free to play/casual basis.
- Plan all necessary logistics for appropriate delivery, including facilities booking, equipment preparation, rules, regulations, umpires/referees, etc.
- Create appropriate marketing materials to promote the sporting activities to students across campus – posters, brochures, webpages, social media.
- Be present at all sessions to organise and deliver activity, ensuring that participants can partake in a safe, fun and engaging session
- Be present at activity to undertake administrative responsibilities and gather data, evaluation and feedback from participants throughout the programme
- Be the first point of contact for the various activity and know when to refer issues/queries onto the Sports Operations Manager.
- Plan and deliver a football campus league offer including the organisation and maintenance of fixtures, league tables and team entries.
- Meet with the Sport Operations Manager on a regular basis to provide an update on the activity planned and delivered
- To work evenings and weekends as required
- To undertake any other reasonable duties within Teesside Sport required of the post and determined by the sports development officer
- To be aware of Health and Safety procedures relating to Sport’s facilities and ensure that relevant reporting requirements are adhered to.
- Adhere to the University’s Health and Safety Policy and guidelines.
- Act in accordance with the sports facility’s operational procedures always
- Adhere to the General Data Protection Regulation and the Data Protection Act 2018.

Skills and experience
- Registered student at Teesside University during Academic Year 2026/27 studying a minimum of 60 credits.
- Willing to undertake training associated with role.
- Ability to convey straightforward information in a clear and accurate manner both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to produce basic marketing materials and use social media
- Ability to relate and communicate well to a diverse range of staff and students
- Ability to complete tasks and prioritise work within a given framework.
- Excellent organisation skills.
- Ability to solve standard problems in accordance with departmental procedures.
- Be able to work under your own initiative.
- Ability to evaluate services and contribute to service improvement initiatives.
- Demonstrate knowledge of various sports and rules.
- Knowledge of how sport is delivered at the University.
- Basic IT skills and be confident using emails, databases, Microsoft word and Excel and online platforms.
- Commitment to excellent customer service and excellent interpersonal skills.
- First aid certificate.
