Role

The Finance Administrator role is an opportunity within Student Fees and Income Management at the University of Leicester, supporting the team during a particularly busy financial year end period. This post is offered for an initial duration of twelve weeks and is based on the University’s main campus.

The role involves working as part of a rota based team, where tasks are allocated weekly across all team members. The post holder will contribute to essential finance and customer service activities, ensuring accurate account management and a positive experience for students and external customers during a high volume operational period.

Duties and responsibilities

The post holder will support the recovery of income from students and external debtors, contributing to effective credit control and income management processes. This will include managing accounts, processing incoming payments and maintaining student tuition fee accounts with accuracy and attention to detail.

In addition, the role will involve providing general customer service and support through a range of channels, including telephone calls, emails and face to face enquiries. The Finance Administrator will work closely with colleagues to ensure queries are handled professionally and in line with University procedures.

Skills and experience

Applicants will be educated to A level standard or equivalent, or be able to demonstrate relevant work experience in a comparable setting. You will have strong attention to detail, effective written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to deliver good customer service in a professional environment, alongside confident IT skills including the use of Microsoft Office.

Experience of working with student data, knowledge of SAP finance systems and the ability to work effectively as part of a team in a fast paced environment would be advantageous. A flexible and collaborative approach is important, as tasks are shared across the team on a rotating basis.
