The Role:

To provide high quality administrative support for the university’s immigration compliance/international student services processes. You will work 37 hours per week on a hybrid basis.The start date will be ideally w/c 18/05/2026 or as possible with a current end date of 03/07/2026.

Duties and responsibilities

Support the university’s immigration compliance activities by carrying out a range of administrative duties, including:

  • Monitoring the university’s growing and diverse international student population, including checking visa and passport expiry dates, requesting updated or missing information, and ensuring records remain accurate.
  • Assisting with monitoring Student Route attendance in line with university and policy requirements.
  • Validating documents and ensuring they are accurately scanned and stored in the student record system.
  • Processing routine updates to student records as required.
  • Investigating and recording visa refusals, and producing regular reports on refusal rates and causes.
  • Reporting Student Route student activity to UK Visas & Immigration (UKVI) via the Sponsor Management System (SMS).
  • Producing Confirmations of Acceptance for Studies (CAS) for continuing students.
  • Generating ad hoc reports to support immigration compliance needs.
  • Preparing correspondence for students, including confirmation of registration letters.
  • Providing guidance to staff and students on university procedures and Student Route policy via email, telephone, and in person.

Act as a liaison between International Student Services and staff across faculties, admissions, and departments.

Support the delivery of staff training on policies and procedures related to international student visas.

Produce regular reports on student visa status for faculties and the Immigration Compliance Officer.

Assist with student registration and enrolment, including verifying, scanning, and uploading documents, and responding to queries across multiple channels.

Keep up to date with Student Route policy developments by attending relevant conferences and seminars, and sharing key updates in written reports.

Assist in preparing for UKVI audits and support auditors during visits.

Skills and experience

  • 5 GCSE/O Levels or equivalent at

    Grade C or above, including English and Maths
  • Extensive administrative experience, including data entry, composing correspondence, scanning and uploading of documents, management of high volumes of paperwork and production of reports
  • Competent user of Microsoft Office/Outlook packages, including Excel & Microsoft Teams
  • High levels of accuracy and strong attention to detail
  • Awareness of data confidentiality and GDPR
  • Awareness of data confidentiality, GDPR and the Data Protection Act
  • Strong organisational skills including sound time management and a proven ability of multi-tasking and prioritising own workload
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Adaptable and flexible approach to work
  • Cultural awareness and understanding of issues relating to international students
  • Able to work outside of normal working hours including evenings and weekends.
