Role

UoN Sport Participation Programmes aim to increase student engagement in physical activity, volunteering & inclusive sport. Successful candidates will join a small but integral team dedicated to engaging, including and empowering students to participate in sport and physical activity at the University of Nottingham. Our approach places students at the heart of everything we do. Ambassadors will receive support from UoN Sport staff, alongside tailored personal development opportunities. This role is well suited to hardworking and innovative individuals seeking to gain valuable, transferable experience for future employment. Our current volunteering offer includes: 

• Sport for Good Nottingham Primary School Programme 

• Empower Sports Leaders Secondary School Programme 

• Event Volunteering 

• Inclusive Sport Leaders 

• Training & Support

Working Hours: 6 hours per week (Flexible) This varies dependant on the week

Pay Rate: £12.71 per hour

Holiday Pay Rate: £1.53 per hour

Location: David Ross Sports Village 

Duties and responsibilities

•Support the recruitment of volunteers across the Volunteering & Leadership Academy programmes

•Lead the marketing, social media, & advertisement of Volunteering & Leadership Academy programmes

•Support data collection for all programmes

•Support the volunteering online platform Volunteer Kinetic

•Support & attend events & activities run on and off campus

•Support with & attend volunteer training sessions  

•Work with other ambassadors as a team to deliver on UoN Sport objectives

•Represent the student voice to develop a clear brand identity for Participation Sport

•Support volunteers to deliver quality sessions to your target audience

•Assist with raising awareness across campuses & all student groups on specific programme remits 

•Generate innovative ideas to market opportunities within your programme area, including recruitment of volunteers

•Write regular content and celebrate successes via all available marketing outlets, including UoN Sport blogs and key social media channels

•Support the planning and delivery of key events & activities

•Assist with management of event volunteers

•Work alongside the UoN Participation Sport Social Media ambassador & Sports Marketing Team to promote all activity online 

•Research into best practice within HE and private sector 

•Support with other Participation Sport programmes

Skills and experience
Qualifications 

•Current undergraduate/postgraduate at University of Nottingham 
•Minimum of 1 year remaining on degree course
 
Knowledge 
•Understanding of the barriers to participation in sport and possible solutions
•Knowledge of key University marketing networks, e.g. Students’ Union, International Students, hall structure
•Knowledge of the different UoN Participation Sport programmes
 
Skills 
•Strong communication skills, with ability to tailor approach to target audience
•Confident IT user including Office
•Report writing & presentations
•Management of social media channels 
 
Attributes 
•Passionate about sport for all
•Creative and innovative approach
•Strong team player
•Self-motivated with ability to work on own initiative
•Highly organised with strong time management
•Committed to own personal development
 
Experience 
•Previous voluntary or paid experience within media, sport or leisure
•Experience of a leadership role within your peer group
