Role

At UoN Sport, we are committed to ensuring all students can engage in sport and physical activity throughout their time at university. The Black Sports Collective exists to create a genuine sense of belonging for Black students. The BSC Ambassador will work alongside the Black Student Sports Officer and the BSC committee to bring that mission to life across campus. You will be a visible and trusted presence for Black students, helping them feel connected to sport and to the wider university community. We are recruiting one BSC Ambassador who will work alongside the BSC committee to: Represent the voices of Black students across the university, raise awareness of BSC events, programmes, and opportunities, Promote key initiatives and campaigns that support Black student participation in sport and physical activity.

 

Start Date: 31/08/2026

End Date: 30/06/2027

Working Hours: To be arranged directly with the Hiring Manager, 10-12 Hours per week

Pay Rate: £12.71 per hour

Holiday Pay Rate: £1.53 per hour

Location: University Park Campus, Jubilee Campus & Sutton Bonington Campus

Duties and responsibilities

  • Represent the Black Sports Collective across university campuses and at key university events, including Welcome Fairs and UoN Sport events
  • Build relationships with Black students across faculties and encourage engagement with BSC activities and UoN Sport
  • Act as a visible and trusted point of contact for Black students interested in getting involved in sport
  • Promote BSC events, programmes, and opportunities through social media and in-person outreach
  • Support the Black Student Sports Officer with communications to the wider student community
  • Gather and relay student feedback to the BSC committee and Black Students Sport Officer
  • Support the planning and delivery of BSC events and initiatives throughout the academic year
  • Help collect data on student engagement and participation to contribute to ongoing reporting
  • Assist with monitoring the impact of BSC activities and identifying areas for improvement

Skills and experience

  • Current undergraduate or postgraduate student at the University of Nottingham
  • Minimum of one year remaining on course
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to adapt to different audiences
  • Passion for inclusive sport and understanding of the barriers Black students face in accessing it
  • Commitment to racial equity and fostering student belonging in sport
  • Well-organised with effective time management skills
  • Ability to work both collaboratively and independently
  • Creative and proactive approach to community building
  • Commitment to personal development
  • Experience using social media for promotion or engagement (Desirable)
  • Customer service or peer support experience (Desirable)
