Description

Role

The Just Play ambassador(s) will work across the Just Play weekly programme, Just Play events and campaigns and the Empower campaign to increase participation and awareness of sport and physical activity at University of Nottingham. Just Play is a key part of the participation offer at UoN Sport and engages over 2,000 students per year, including key groups of students from protected characteristic groups within our student community. The incoming ambassador(s) would work as part of a small team of 2-3 ambassadors and the Participation Sport Officer, as well as a community of 60 student volunteers. The incoming Just Play ambassadors would work alongside the Participation Sport Officer to: 

• Communicate and liaise with student sports clubs and volunteers to organise Just Play sessions 

• Ensure the programme is running in accordance with expectations and manage relationships with stakeholders, including the clubs and facility staff 

• Represent the team and department at university events and promote the participation offer, including Just Play 

• Help deliver targeted campaigns and events throughout the year, including Empower Week and Girls Night In

Working Hours: Between 4-8 hours/week dependent on business need throughout the year

Pay Rate: £12.71 per hour

Holiday Pay Rate: £1.53 per hour

Duties and responsibilities
• Communicate and liaise regularly with UoN Sports clubs via email, WhatsApp and in-person to arrange Just Play sessions 

• Be the first contact for volunteers to ask questions, request changes and provide feedback about the Just Play programme and communicate this to the Participation Sport Officer 
•Assist with event planning and build strong relationships with stakeholders for these events, including sports clubs, societies, other UoN Sport staff and external vendors 
• Assist with collecting feedback from attendees in a number of different ways and build rapport with attendees to encourage them to continue engaging with the programme 
• Assist with administrative duties using Microsoft Excel, including interpreting attendance data, updating contact lists and keeping records of session delivery Marketing and Communications 
• Send promotional and notification emails to Just Play attendees • Promote Just Play and other participation programmes at university events, including Welcome Fairs and UoN Sport events 
• Organise promotional tours around university campuses for participation programmes Event and Campaign Delivery 
• On the night organisation of volunteers and other ambassadors to delegate roles and responsibilities at events such as Girls Night In and Just Play Festival 
• Shift organisation 
• Event logistics in line with operational demand for the event

Skills and experience
• Current undergraduate or postgraduate student at the University of Nottingham (Essential) 

• Minimum of one year remaining on course (Essential) 
• Understand and appreciate barriers to sport and physical activity (Essential) 
• Good knowledge of UoN Sport and how a student can get involved at all levels (Essential) 
• Good Microsoft Excel knowledge (Essential) 
• Volunteering or working within sport sessions, e.g session leading/ coaching/ umpiring/ event volunteering/ captaining a sports team/ committee position within a club (Desirable) 
• Customer service experience (Desirable) 
• Strong inclusive communication skills, with the ability to adapt to different audiences (Essential) 
• Microsoft Office, including Excel (Essential) 
• Good customer service within written and verbal communication (Essential) 
• Ability to lead a team and delegate responsibilities effectively (Essential) 
• Passion for inclusive sport and physical activity (Essential) 
• Creative and innovative mindset (Essential) 
• Strong collaborator with the ability to work independently (Essential)
