Role
Candidate required to manage a project, taking responsibility for planning, coordination and delivery of assigned tasks.
Duties and responsibilities
1. Preparation
- Liaison with the third-party supplier responsible for the installation of the wireless beacons
- Plan schedule for the installation of the wireless beacons and removal of physical card readers
- Book rooms so that rooms are available for the installation work to be carried out by the third-party contractors
- Liaison with building managers and key stakeholders to inform them of the work
- Manage the stock of the beacons hardware to ensure the third-party supplier has the appropriate hardware available based on the deployment schedule
- Proactively manage all schedules, ensuring rooms and/or resources are aligned and updated as plans are revised
2. Installation
- If work by the third-party contractors is taking place in hours, be on-site at either the Clerkenwell or Moorgate campus to respond to/resolve issues.
- If work by the third-party contractors is taking place out of hours, be available the following working day to resolve any issues.
3. Post-Installation
- Be on-site the next working day after out-of-hours installation work, to undertake checks to ensure that the work has been completed and necessary notices have been put in place.
- Update tracking documentation.
- Communicate progress on a weekly basis to key stakeholders.
- Liaise with key stakeholders to update them regarding the work and any issues.
- Support the Student Systems Team with other activities.
Skills and experience
- Educated to at least A level or equivalent level, or with equivalent work experience
- Excellent IT skills across a range of applications, including MS Office
- Administrative experience involving a broad range of duties, ideally in a University or similar institution, working in an environment in which accuracy is essential
- Experience of working with a range of people with differing priorities and expectations
- Experience of working in a changing environment
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to complete tasks to deadline and with a high level of accuracy
- Able to identify and resolve issues without clear or predefined solutions, whilst working within IT and City policies
- Able to follow defined processes, but also to identify, propose and implement improvements and better ways of working
