Role
During the week of A Level Results Day, we receive 1000s of calls from prospective students looking for a place to study at Leicester
Working as part of the admissions team. Your role will be to support the future student’s team during the busy period of clearing and confirmation period 2025 taking calls from students over the phone looking for a place at Leicester for September 2026 and where the student meets our grade requirements, processing an offer for them to study at Leicester
We are looking for customer-focused individuals who are able to work:
- Wednesday 12th August 1-4pm
- Thursday 13th August 8am -7pm
- Friday 14th August 8am -7pm
- Saturday 15th August 10am-4pm (not all will be needed on this date, so we will consider applications from students who aren’t available on the Saturday)
There is also some online training to complete the week before, which you will be paid for
This is a really great opportunity to develop transferable skills while working in a fast-paced exciting environment

Duties and responsibilities
Taking calls from prospective students during Confirmation and Clearing:
- Taking calls from new and existing applicants, considering their results, and making offers to study at Leicester as appropriate.
- Inputting Data into University database and processing offers on behalf of the University to eligible students
- Liaise with colleagues across the university including academic departments to resolve queries
Skills and experience
Essential
- A positive attitude towards university, In particular the University of Leicester, our facilities and courses
- Ability to remain calm under pressure Good telephone manner
- Knowledge of UK qualifications and UCAS application process
- Currently studying for an undergraduate degree at the University of Leicester Excellent Customer service skills
- Good communication skills both written and oral
- Ability to work effectively in a team
- Excellent IT Skills including Microsoft teams, Microsoft Office and databases
- Organised and able to multi task
- Good attention to detail and accuracy
- Excellent time management skills (reliable and punctual)
- Ability to work on own and use own initiative where appropriate
Desirable
- Experience working as either a call handler, dept ambassador or other relevant student facing role at the university
- Experience in a customer-facing role
- Experience in a calling handler role
