Description

Role

Working across a defined portfolio of academic departments as part of a marketing and communications function, undertake a wide range of tactical marketing and communication activities that support University recruitment marketing and communications objectives. This will include providing a professional marketing delivery service to academic departments for prospective student and current student communications, and other identified audiences, implementing activity arising from integrated marketing and recruitment plans.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Working with senior colleagues in a faculty focused team, and in collaboration with academic departments to implement insight led marketing plans that support student recruitment and student communications, contribute to the content of those plans, which would typically include establishing objectives, messaging, understanding of market and opportunity available, understanding of the competition, use of appropriate channels (website, digital, social media, event, print) and mechanisms to evaluate, report and improve.
  • Working with external agencies and internal stakeholders, manage the production of marketing communications materials and content e.g., photography, videos, blog, and online student recruitment facing web content. Responsibility for managing the relationships with student bloggers in order to generate content that supports student recruitment.
  • In conjunction with the central customer relationship management (CRM) team, support on the delivery of CRM activity including developing content in support of department events and activity. Working with departments, responsible for developing content for virtual open day events and as a recognised expert host events for departments.
  • With support from the Market Research and Insight Team develop a good understanding of markets and competitors and use this to work with departments to develop strong messaging and content for programmes of study.
  • To work with a faculty focused team to support on student communication activity to engage with current students; to use this content to inform prospective student marketing activity.
  • Implement marketing initiatives/campaigns to support the launch of new and existing programmes, ensuring that new programmes are included and integrated into core recruitment/marketing systems.
  • Working in a virtual team across Marketing, Communications and Insight, proactively contributing to and shaping marketing & communications projects and campaigns to support strategic objectives using an assigned budget and motivating and developing cross-functional teams to deliver results.

Skills and experience

Essential:

  • Educated to degree level or equivalent demonstrable experience.
  • Experience of working in a Marketing team.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and ability to communicate with a broad array of audiences.
  • Ability to think creatively.
  • Demonstrable skills in creating compelling marketing messages.
  • Knowledge and demonstrated experience of using online channels to reach and connect with markets.
  • Experience of delivering marketing campaigns.
  • Demonstrable experience of undertaking basic desk research such as competitor analysis and able to host focus groups.
  • Good organisational skills with the ability to prioritise multiple tasks while achieving a high level of accuracy.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues and agencies.

Desirable

  • Professional qualification(s) in Marketing or working towards one.
  • Experience of working within an education or skills context.
  • Proficiency in Mandarin desirable, but not essential.

Location
Hybrid working, with one day a week in the office at Swallow House. On campus working will be required based on project availability, such as photoshoots, content development, video work and Open Days for example.
