Increased rewarming from hibernation due to external triggers, such as light and noise pollution, can have a detrimental effect on hibernating animals. This collaborative project between the University of Chester and LJMU aims to determine the specific triggers that cause lesser horseshoe bats to interrupt hibernation.

To this extent, we are seeking a research assistant to help analyse data on the behaviour and activity of horseshoe bats during winter.

The role requires data analysis of video material (pre-collected camera trap footage) from 4 roosts of lesser horseshoe bats it North Wales. The results are expected to inform mitigation strategies for sensitive roost sites.
