Role

Unitemps are recruiting for a Project Officer within the IOE department. The role is to work ASAP and will run until 31st July 2026 full time at 36.5 hours per week. Payment is set at £19.14+ holiday pay per hour and the role will be HYBRID based.

The Centre for Chinese Language Education (CCLE) sits within the department of Culture Communication and Media at UCL Institute of Education (IOE). The CCLE is leading a major expansion in the teaching and learning of Mandarin Chinese language in the school system in England. CCLE delivers teaching and learning programmes that include support for schools to teach Chinese language on curriculum, teacher training, resource development and research. The Centre works with over 100 schools who teach Mandarin Chinese on Curriculum.
 
To achieve this, the CCLE Project Officer will undertake tasks to support schools in starting and developing the teaching and learning of Mandarin Chinese through Centre projects. The Project Officer will undertake administrative duties for projects or strands of projects on behalf of the Centre Manager, curriculum experts and a project manager that deliver impactful outcomes and strengthen and develop the CCLE network of teachers and schools
 

Duties and responsibilities

  • Working across a range of projects with a flexible approach to undertake tasks
  • Primarily supporting data collection (large data sets), data management and analysis to track participation in activities
  • Communicate effectively with schools in relation to data collection and project progress
  • Administrative work taking on day-to-day tasks delegated by the Centre Manager, curriculum experts and a project manager as required
  • Support event organisation as required, working towards successful conferences, events and teacher training provision
  • Working to resolve issues where these arise in order to retain relationships positively. To communicate positively and sensitively with all stakeholders
  • Organise work and ensure delivery
  • Ensure that stakeholder information is maintained accurately at all times to support our work
  • Undertake market analysis, gathering data and other research as required

Skills and experience

  • Excellent IT skills, in particular familiarity with spreadsheets and the ability to manage data effectively
  • Experience of organising meetings including logistical planning, documentation, and communication with attendees
  • Experience in event planning / event management
  • Ability to communicate effectively at all levels and to different audiences, both verbally and in writing
  • Ability to work flexibly, and a demonstrable ability to take on new tasks and areas of delivery as required
  • Working methodically, prioritising and managing tasks
  • Being practical and able to problem-solve
  • Ability to plan effectively, recognising and flagging problems
