Description
Role
To provide proactive and professional support to the interim HR Team Lead by co-ordinating WMG’s training and development activities. To ensure conference and training requests are processed timely along with answering queries and developing the WMG Graduate Programme.
Duties and responsibilities
Training
- Coordinate training and conference bookings across the department, overseeing the staff development budget, obtaining departmental approvals and raising financial documentation.
- Maintain accurate departmental records for all conferences and training, including completion of compulsory online training.
- Where applicable, liaise with both internal departments and external agencies to ensure the smooth operations of WMG’s delivery or training and short courses.
- Prepare and distribute courses and training (internally) via WMG communication channels
- Update and maintain the WMG training pages on the WMG intranet.
Talent Development
- Support the Academic Promotions process by organising room bookings, stakeholder queries and expression of interests forms and record keeping
- Arrange Academic Probation meetings, including 6 month check in’s, along with keeping Academic Probation records up to date and liaising with central to ensure all information provided is up to date
- Support the recruitment for the WMG Graduate Trainee Engineer Programme (a 2-year programme for Graduate Engineers, comprising of several rotations across funded research projects and additional transferable skills short courses). To coordinate the recruitment activities, including advertising, short-listing, arranging interview panels, onboarding documents, Right To Work checks and induction planning
- To update and maintain WMG Talent Development webpages on the WMG intranet
Skills and experience
- GCSE or equivalent qualification with A-C in English and Mathematics
- Significant administrative experience, including the ability to maintain accurate records and communicate information in an appropriate manner
- Experience in working in a busy customer focussed environment
- Excellent IT skills including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Powerpoint)
- Good written and oral communication skills (both verbal and written)
- Excellent interpersonal skills to allow good relationships with internal and external stakeholders
- Strong organisational skills, including planning and prioritising to meet deadlines
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail
- Proven ability to work independently, take ownerships of takes and to move them forward without any direct supervision
- Well-developed problem-solving skills with the ability to be proactive and use initiative to implement practical solutions
