Role

We are recruiting a team of cleaners to work in the Edinburgh on-campus residences over the summer. In this role you will be responsible for cleaning university buildings in accommodations to a high standard, following the standard operating procedures. 

This role will commence on the 25th May until the 31st August. Shifts will take place between Monday-Sunday, either 9am-2pm or 9am-3pm. You will be expected to be available to work up to 5 days per week, but the exact shifts will vary week by week. In total this job will be around 25 hours per week, however we are also able to accommodate students who are restricted to 20 hours per week due to visa regulation. Students must be available to work between 25 May and 31 August. Pre-planned holidays can be accommodated, but we do require a solid level of commitment throughout this period to ensure consistent coverage for the team. 

Interviews for this role are expected to take place at the Edinburgh campus on 10th of May. 

Duties and responsibilities

  • To ensure all University buildings and accommodations are cleaned to a high standard following the standard operating procedures.
  • Use appropriate equipment and machinery, reporting any faults to Cleaning Supervisor.
  • Cleaning, washing, sweeping, mopping, dusting, power washing, scrubbing and vacuuming designated areas to the required standard and as per standard operating procedures. 
  • Replenishing consumables where necessary and disposal of refuse and removal of graffiti.
  • Assist with the distribution and collection of linen including counting and storing outgoing soiled linen and incoming clean linen.
  • Collect rubbish and dispose of correctly using appropriate bins, including kitchen refuse and recycling.

Skills and experience
Experience working in a similar role would be desirable but not essential as full training will be given. We need students who are dependable, available across the week (including weekends), and ready to bring a good attitude to work. This role is hands-on and physical, but also satisfying and part of a supportive team.
