Role
Working within the Student Opportunity Skills Team under the guidance of the Thrive Skills Developer to provide efficient, accurate and high-quality research support to the Thrive programmes.
Duties and responsibilities
This temporary role will support the ongoing development of the Thrive™ programme. The post holder will help gather evidence of its impact and carry out background research to support future use and potential wider roll‑out.
Key duties include:
- Reviewing existing data from previous Thrive participants (such as feedback, surveys and reports) to identify clear examples and short impact stories that show how the programme has benefited students.
- Carrying out desk-based research into similar personal development programmes at other universities (in the UK and internationally), noting similarities, differences and good practice.
- Summarising findings in short written reports, to help demonstrate where Thrive performs well and how it compares to other offers in the sector.
- Providing general administrative and project support as required, including completing related tasks appropriate to the grade of the post, as directed by the Thrive Skills Developer or the Head of Skills.
Skills and experience
- Minimum GCSE level education (or equivalent) with grades 5 or above (or equivalent) in both English and Maths.
- Educated to A level education or equivalent (desirable).
- Experience in a varied administrative role.
- Proven ability to use own initiative and work proactively.
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to prioritise work effectively.
- Excellent use of Microsoft Office IT software with proven ability to become quickly effective at using new systems.
- Excellent written and verbal interpersonal and communication skills.
- Meticulous attention to detail.
- Ability to work flexibly as part of a busy team.
