Description

Role
Future Makers play a key part in supporting the Careers Hub by offering guidance to current students on a wide range of career-related topics. This includes signposting students to internal and external resources and helping raise awareness of the services the Careers Team provides.

This is a fantastic opportunity for returning Year in Industry students form the College of Business to further develop your employability skills, support fellow students, and gain experience in a professional advisory environment.
 
Each shift would be approximately 2.5hrs and would be worked around timetables. There may also be additional shifts and opportunities available within the main David Wilson Career Hub.
 
The start date for this role will be in September 2026.
 
The pay rate for this role is National Living Wage, which is £12.71 per hour, with an additional £1.53 per hour holiday pay.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Providing accurate information and support to ULSB students regarding a wide variety of career related enquiries; including applications, accessing CV templates, interviews and assessment centres, Year in Industry placements, graduate roles, volunteering opportunities, and part-time work.
  • Signposting students to relevant resources to support their career exploration and planning; including online materials, blackboard, and resources on the University of Leicester webpages especially MyCareers.
  • Helping to promote career activities 
  • Maintaining the physical space in the Career Hub: Ensuring the Career Hub is tidy, organized, and conducive to student engagement. Regularly update posters and information displayed to reflect current opportunities and events.
  • Upholding safeguarding regulations: Familiarize yourself with the University of Leicester's safeguarding regulations and adhere to them diligently. Escalating any queries or concerns regarding safeguarding promptly and appropriately
  • Assist with workshops and career initiatives

Skills and experience
Essential

•    Returning Year in Industry student from the College of Business
•    Excellent interpersonal skills, being able to approach, talk to and actively engage a wide variety of students (in person or via phone)
•    Ability to work independently 
•    Excellent time management skills (reliable and punctual)
•    Good problem-solving skills 
•    Use of Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint)  
 
Desirable
•    Experience in a customer service environment 
•    Promoting and recommending activities to people 
•    Creating of social media content 
•    Ability to work within a team
•    Experience of attending an appointment or careers event in the last 12 months
