Role

The New Enlightenment Conference is Panmure House’s flagship international conference for 2026, and we are looking for a small team of students to support the successful running of this exciting event. Work will take place at Panmure House and the Balmoral Hotel. 

Duties and responsibilities
Reception & Registration Tasks:

  • Greeting & Check-in: Warmly welcoming delegates, processing registrations, and providing badges or conference packs. 
  • Inquiry Management: Answering questions regarding the schedule, speaker locations, and local amenities. 
  • Visitor Flow: Managing queues during peak arrival times to prevent bottlenecks.
Event Space & Room Management:
  • Front of House staff act as "room monitors" or "ushers" to ensure sessions run without disruption.  
  • Room Setup & Clearing: Setting up furniture and equipment (e.g., chair stacks, tables) according to the daily event sheet and clearing rooms between sessions. 
  • Signage & Wayfinding: Ensuring directional signs are accurate and helping attendees navigate the venue.
Catering and Hospitality Services:
  • Refreshment Service: Setting up, serving, and clearing down coffee breaks, lunches, receptions. 
  • Management & Coordination Duties 
  • Stakeholder Liaison: Acting as a bridge between the event organisers, the speakers, and external suppliers such as AV and Catering.  
Other duties:
  • Purchasing ad hoc items locally 
  • Moving kit to another venue such as Panmure House or NMS 
  • Liaising with a Conference Speaker to gauge their requirements (water, food, av support etc)

Skills and experience
Previous experience working in a customer facing or service roles would be a benefit but is not essential.

Must be available to work between Monday 8th and Wednesday 10th June between 0900 - 1700.
