Role
Unitemps are recruiting for a NIHR GOSH BRC Research and Training Operations Coordinator within the Developmental Neurosciences department. The role is to work the date of 5th May 2026 and will run until 4th November 2026 full time at 36.5 hours per week. Payment is set at £()+ holiday pay per hour and the role will be HYBRID based.

The BRC is led by our Director, Professor Thomas Voit, and each individual research theme is led by a theme lead and deputies, who are senior researchers from across GOSH and ICH. Each theme is supported by a BRC Research Manager who sits within the BRC’s core management team and works closely with the BRC Research Operations Manager, and BRC Deputy Director of Operations who has overall responsibility for the management of the BRC.
The BRC Research Operations Coordinator will be a key member of the core BRC management team and will work closely with the Head of Operations and with the theme and deputy theme leads for the Career Development Academy cross-cutting theme.
The BRC Research Operations Coordinator will work closely with the BRC Head of Operations to provide operational support across the core BRC management team. This will include helping to coordinate research grant funding calls, support management meetings, collate reports and monitor research progress against objectives, monitor spend against budgets, and provide administrative support to staff across the BRC.

Internal

- BRC Career Development Academy (CDA): CDA Lead/Deputy, Research Hospital Clinical Academic Careers Lead, BRC Junior Faculty Leads
- Wider BRC: BRC Director, Deputy Director and Theme Leads/Deputies
- GOSH R&D: R&I leadership team, R&D Governance, Data, Finance, Communications and Grants teams
- ICH: ICH Programme Leads/Managers, Finance and HR Teams
External
- NIHR, other NIHR BRC leadership teams including UCLH BRC Academic Careers Office and Moorfields BRC, GOSH BRC partners in Sheffield, Liverpool and Birmingham Children’s hospitals.
BRC Operational Management
- Support the BRC Operations Manager in the successful delivery of the BRC research strategy
- Work closely with staff throughout GOSH and ICH to ensure effective management of the BRC, including finance, HR and department managers
- Support the BRC Head of Operations to coordinate grant schemes, including developing and advertising grant funding calls, liaising with applicants, managing the peer review process and communicating with awardees
- Provide committee support for the BRC Science Board, BRC Management Board and BRC Strategy Board, including liaising with speakers, coordinating meetings, writing minutes and ensuring actions are followed up in a timely manner
- Work closely with the R&I Communications team to develop communications materials as required and to ensure the BRC website remains relevant and up to date
- Support the BRC Head of Operations to liaise with researchers to monitor their grant expenditure and ensure timely production of BRC finance reports
- Provide administrative support for wider BRC initiatives, including Patient/Public Involvement and Engagement (PPIE), Business Development and Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI).
- BRC Career Development Academy Theme Programme Support
- Provide administrative support for a programme of career development activities for early career researchers working in translational research, including for clinical and non-clinical PhD students, undergraduate students, and post-doctoral researchers across GOSH and ICH. Example programmes include:
- Support grant funding calls for the Career Development Academy, including developing application forms, advertising the call, liaising with applicants/awardees, and managing peer review processes
- Provide administrative support to the Junior Faculty committee to help deliver their objectives, including arranging meetings and writing minutes
Skills and experience
- Academic/Professional qualification/ Trianing
- Educated to degree level in a scientific area or equivalent experience
- Evidence of continuing professional development/education including attendance on study programmes
- Experience in working in research management and administration (preferably in Higher Education, in an NHS organisation, or in a research funding body)
- Evidence of supporting the implementation of strategic / delivery plans
- Experience planning and running events
- A good understanding of multi-disciplinary team working
- Experience of supporting committee meetings and writing minutes
- Experience of handling and analysing data, preparing reports and providing recommendations
- Experience of budget management
- Experience of administering grant funding calls
- Interest in career development initiatives for early career researchers
- Some experience of project managemen
- tUnderstanding of the research environment, research collaborations and experience working with researchers
- Key attention to detail
- Excellent oral and written communication and presentation skills
- IT literate and demonstrable analytical skills

Hybrid (2 days in the office)
