Role
Would you like to actively play a part in improving your local community? Would you like to support fellow students to better manage their waste, recycle well and practice sustainability? Would you like to join the team on campaigns promoting donations to the British Heart Foundation and raising awareness about crime prevention? If the answer is yes, apply to join our fantastic team of Community Engagement Ambassadors for the academic year 26/27.
Duties and responsibilities
- You must be eligible to work in the UK for up to 10 hours per week.
- You will be required to work 6 hours, minimum every week during term time, additional work is available during university holidays. Please make sure you have the availability, capacity and time to undertake the required work.
- You must be able to travel to and from your place of work (Lenton, Radford, Dunkirk, Beeston).
- You must be able to attend the in-person training days. You must be available to work the full academic year from September 2026 - July 2027.
- Experience of community work and working with students and non-students.
- Keen interest in sustainability and the environment.
- Previous ambassador experience in other areas of the University.
- Knowledge of Nottingham City Council residential processes (eg. waste and recycling).
- Experience of and previously lived off-campus within Lenton, Radford, Dunkirk or Beeston.
Skills and experience
- Be passionate about your local Nottingham community and sustainability.
- Be outgoing, confident, engaging and happy to speak with all members of the community.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and great communicator.
- Lots of community based outdoor work (in all weather conditions) will require Ambassadors to be active.
- Can work with own initiative and independently.
- Prepared to have challenging conversations with peers or members of the community.
- Excellent team player.
- Resilient and hard working.
- Conscientious and responsible university representative.
- Work confidentially and within data protection regulations, often with sensitive information.
