This is a unique chance to shape how local history is presented to younger audiences by developing an engaging and interactive event focused on the fascinating story of the Symington Corset Factory. The event will run twice during the festival on Saturday 12 and Saturday 19 September 2026.

It combines the chance to gain professional experience with additional mentoring support, skills development and being able to participate in a wider network as part of a wider youth engagement programme - Heritage Open Days, New Wave.

The role sits within a team of 5 employees - 2 staff work on developing heritage days and 3 staff support on the day events. The new heritage co curator role will provide extra resources to the team and give a focus on the New Wave events that aim to attract 18 - 30 year olds.

This opportunity combines regular mentoring and check in's so that the appointed applicant feels supported and enabled to develop activity, can exchange ideas and benefit from the insight, knowledge and expertise of staff who have organised heritage open days previously.
