Role
We are seeking a Project Assistant to support a new component of REF2029, with a focus on evaluating the university’s current level of preparedness. This work will form the foundation for future actions and planning for SPRE REF2029.
Duties and responsibilities
The candidate is needed to gather, with supervision, a number of internal policies and strategies both at the university or school level which are relevant to aspects of university research culture. The candidate will lease with ADRs, heads of departments and lead academics for REF units of assessment.
The candidate will, with guidance, conduct structured interviews with researchers from across the university, including, associate deans for research and heads of department on how different dimensions of research culture are addressed in their departments and schools. for example the details of annual development opportunities, mentoring, peer review practices, guidance and support for applying for external grants.
The candidate will need to be familiar with a range of common software such as MS Word and Excel. ideally the candidate will be familiar with, or be willing to learn, Nvivo to organise and analyse data collected. The candidate will need to have good analytical and data presentation skills.
Skills and experience
Experience of working in a project environment working to project design to deliver data collection, analysis and reporting.
Experience working in a research project context would be an advantage
Familiarity with UK higher education and research, and inpartitcular the Research Excellence Framework would be an advantage but not a requirement.
