The school of health and society has a position for a Digital Media & Content Creation Intern (Placement Preparation) that might interest you.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Content Planning & Coordination work with the onboarding team and academic leads to identify key areas where video content is needed to support placement readiness
  • Develop content plans, filming schedules, and storyboards to ensure all required information is captured effectively
  • Liaise with staff, students, and relevant services to organise filming sessions across campus
  • Filming & Production Lead and coordinate filming activities involving students, academics, and professional services colleagues
  • Operate recording equipment (or personal equipment where appropriate) to capture high‑quality, well‑structured footage
  • Ensure all necessary consent, permissions and release forms are collected and recorded
  • Editing & Accessibility Edit video content to a professional, engaging standard suitable for YouTube and Blackboard
  • Ensure all videos meet accessibility standards, including captions/subtitles, clear audio, and inclusive design
  • Apply appropriate branding, graphics, overlays, and calls‑to‑action consistent with the school’s style
  • Digital Asset Management & Distribution Develop and manage a dedicated YouTube channel or playlist to host placement preparation content
  • Organise and store digital files, footage, and project assets systematically for easy access and future use. Share content with relevant stakeholders and ensure it is correctly embedded or uploaded to the VLE (Blackboard)
  • Engagement & Promotion Encourage participation and engagement from the student community and academic staff
  • Support the School at relevant events or conferences where video capture or digital promotion may be required
  • Contribute ideas to enhance the overall visibility and impact of placement‑support resources.

Skills and experience

Student-Focused Communication in Health Contexts 

  • Ability to translate complex academic and professional information (e.g., placements, safeguarding, ethics, clinical expectations) into clear, supportive content for undergraduate students—many of whom may be new to health and social care environments

Multimedia Storytelling for Engagement & Belonging

  • Skilled in creating engaging content (videos, student stories, social posts, guides) that helps new students feel welcomed and confident—highlighting real experiences such as placements, campus life, and peer support within health and society disciplines

Knowledge of Professional & Regulatory Requirements

  • Understanding of onboarding elements specific to health-related courses, such as compliance, DBS checks, immunisations, or alignment with bodies like NHS or Health and Care Professions Council—ensuring all content is accurate and up to date

Cross-Team Collaboration in Academic & Support Settings

  • Ability to work closely with academic staff, placement coordinators, admissions, and student support services to gather information and produce coordinated onboarding content that reflects real student journeys

Inclusive & Accessible Content Design

  • Commitment to creating content that is inclusive and accessible (e.g., captions, plain English, culturally aware messaging), supporting a diverse undergraduate cohort—including widening participation and first-generation students
